Hosted by Johanna and Klara Söderberg’s uncle (television personality Kristofer Lundström), this is just 1 of 6 performances captured on a beautiful old beta cam by the same crew behind the duo’s latest videos — “It’s a Shame” and “Fireworks” — that is: director Mats Udd, cinematographer Viktor Skogqkvist and producer Petra Krigström. An inspiring portrait of up-and-coming musician Omar Apollo by director Kevin Lombardo. Born and raised in Mexico (and currently living in Gary, Indiana), Omar reflects on where he’s come from and how he got himself to where he is now. As Lomardo describes the motivation behind the film:
“This little story is to let everyone know that we can do whatever we want even if we don’t have the ‘teacher’ for it, we are all figuring it out.”
Capturing Omar’s first trip to NYC for a show, Lombardo and cinematographer Patrick Golan opted for “all handheld” in order to mimic Omar’s experience for the viewer as the “run-and-go type style” lends itself to the kind of small details newcomers are more likely to notice — subtle subjects, different buildings, lights, views, etc.
See New York through Omar and Lombardo’s eyes above. You can also listen to the featured track, “Heart,” and check out some behind-the-scenes shots from the shoot below!

A unique minimalist animation by Rapapawn (aka artists Óscar Raña and Cynthia Alfonso) for Spanish quartet Dois. One of the first projects for the new experimental animation studio, “Stromboli” features a series of surreal and abstract imagery with a retro psychedelic twist.
Cairo-based filmmaker Wael Alaa (aka NEOBYRD) and cinematographer Ahmed Tahoun explore the underground music scene of “Mahraganat” with the artists behind the burgeoning style. Starring and featuring music by Team Soska.
The sixth chapter of Zoë Mc Pherson’s ongoing audiovisual album “String Figures” (previously featured here). Directed by Alessandra Leone and animated by Andreas Barden, “Inouï (and free)” draws inspiration from both traditional Inuit culture and techno-futurism.
A new self-directed video from Estonian rapper Tommy Cash (previously featured here). Produced, art directed and styled by frequent collaborator Anna-Lisa Himma, “Pussy Money Weed” features a number of models and dancers with disabilities. As Cash explains in an interview with Dazed, his decision isn’t so much about shock value as it is the beauty of diversity:
“It’s like Kendrick said, ‘I’m so fuckin’ sick and tired of Photoshop… Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretchmarks.’ For me, it’s kind of the same. I’m more drawn to reality. When I present myself, I’m not covered in jewelry that I don’t really own. I’m just trying to show different people and different places, things that people maybe aren’t so comfortable seeing or going to. For me, all different people are beautiful.”

Some nice moments in this colourful animation for Hippo Campus’ track “Buttercup” by Noah Farrar and Aaron Yankowiak of dolorondu.
Video for Franz Ferdinand’s track “Feel The Love Go” directed by New York City/Los Angeles-based filmmaker Diane Martel.
Director/animator Julie Fliegenspan creates a wonderfully strange claymation adaptation of real voicemails she received after making out with someone at a rave.
Some interesting ideas in this dark narrative short by filmmaker Jakub Blank from Charlotte, North Carolina. Inspired by Dante’s Inferno, a man confesses his sins while at the same time defending his actions.
