An ambitious video for Beshken by New York City-based director and cinematographer Nina Gofur (previously featured here). Inspired by Maya Deren’s Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), “Cursed” follows the surreal journey of a man on the hunt for an ominous cloaked figure. Exploring themes of anxiety and the vulnerability of the self, Gofur explains:

“The mirror-faced figure is revealed to be the reflection of a reality that consists solely of true thoughts and desires, one where cyclical thought loops and baseless fears of death are compromised.”

The film site also fittingly features the nearly-abandoned former Bombay Beach resort on California’s Salton Sea — a once prosperous vacation spot for Hollywood actors and executives in the 1950s and 60s — which Beshken makes reference to in the title of his latest self-release.
