Harnessing classic road movie imagery and contemporary vibrations of climate change, “Pure Immersion” is a genre-bending audio-visual journey about an actor (Willa Holland) recuperating from cosmetic surgery. While stopped in a small town expecting to find peace and quiet, it becomes clear that Ashcroft is not a place of passive rest.
