The first clip of Wes Anderson’s upcoming stop-motion animation, Isle of Dogs, was just released via Vulture. The film takes place in a world where dogs have been quarantined on an island in an attempt to deal with the spread of “canine flu.” The short scene sees Chief (Bryan Cranston), Rex (Edward Norton), Boss (Bill Murray), Duke (Jeff Goldblum) and King (Bob Balaban) facing off against a rival gang over a coveted sack of sardine bones and maggot-riddled scraps.

While it’s still difficult to ignore the lack of Asian voices in a narrative set in Japan, based on this brief glimpse, it may be harder to resist checking out the film when it’s released on March 23rd!
