An intimate exploration of intergenerational healing and the bittersweet cycles of life for Jordan Klassen by Vancouver-based director and cinematographer Farhad Ghaderi (previously featured here). Featuring an actual family of non-actors, “Golden Ladder” is the result of script and scenes workshopped together in order capture something authentic and relatable based on the women’s own lived experience. As Ghaderi states:
“I wanted to paint a portrait of what this healing might look like to some, by showing fragments of the present and past of a mother and her daughter, and what happens when the role of the caretaker is reversed with time. Some of these moments are inspired by my own family’s journey with healing, trauma and immigration, but the film itself is the result of a collaboration with every performer on screen.”
