Directors Gabriel Dugué and Hugo Kerr offer up a stylish portrait of a young woman named Jennifer and her passion for drifting in the first episode of their series Boucan. Taken from the French word for excessive noise or racket, the ongoing project aims to capture raw, aesthetic images of the landscapes, people and stories that are so often overshadowed by the affluent societal norms associated with the region.

Equal parts documentary and music video, we learn about Jennifer through her mother’s voiceover as well as intimate snapshots of her life at home in the suburbs of Montpellier. Surrounded by swamps, an airport and a commercial & industrial, Dugué and Kerr draw attention to the hidden beauty of their beloved region. The films’ score similarly showcases all French talent as it features singer-songwriter Nicolas Ly, with an original composition by MiM.
