“Avenida Naranja” by Dakota Hill

Filmmaker Dakota Hill explores the reconstruction of a cultural memory through dance and visual storytelling in this lovely animation. Made as a final project while studying the History of Animation and Chicanx Representation in Cinema at UC Davis, “Avenida Naranja (Orange Memory)” features the choreography of Hill’s friend, Karina Valdez, which he dutifully traced, rotoscoping each movement frame by frame.
