A poetic woodcut-inspired animation by director David Jansen and German studio Fabian&Fred (aka Fabian Driehorst and Frédéric Schuld). Co-written by Jansen and Sophie Biesenbach, “Däwit” tells the fable-like story of a man raised by wolves, who embarks on a journey to confront his past with the help of two loyal companions (a cat and an angel).

Belgium artist Frans Masereel’s woodcuts were a major inspiration behind the style of the film. Although animated digitally in TV Paint, the visuals beautifully mimic traditional woodcutting techniques – black is scratched out of white and white from black.
