When director Jake Dypka heard Memorial’s cover of Fontaines DC’s “A Hero’s Death” it made him think of old seaside resorts on the English coastline. “I had a plan but nothing was guaranteed without the willingness of strangers. As it happens people were extremely willing to participate and I only got two no’s across the whole shoot and my faith has been firmly restored in humanity.”
The combination of the music and the staging of each portrait here is pure magic. Big round of applause for Arthur Loveday’s cinematography, so many wonderfully observed moments.
