Another brilliant short by Los Angeles-based animator Kangmin Kim (previously featured here). Named after the Korean word for black dot, “JEOM” tells the story of a father and son who share the same large birthmark. Believing that the two are connected, the son tries to scrub off his father’s birthmark in an attempt to remove his own. As Kangmin explains further:
“JEOM is also a metaphor on the powerful hereditary force that each of us receives without our consent before we are even born. It is inevitable that we are all tied to this heredity. No matter how much we try to erase or change this fact, our ancestors will always live through us.”
