Video by Sam Rolfes for the debut of Amnesia Scanner’s upcoming EP explores the uncanny and overwhelming feeling of attending a large festival show. Built in a game engine with increasingly abstracted and reactive elements, Rolfes creates a venue that contorts, fractures, and stomps along with the track–eventually taking on the role of the performer itself.
Heavily inspired by first-person-shooter style gaming, what you’re seeing here is essentially the interaction between two “players”: Player One (camera/head control via Occulus Rift, leg movement, and animation triggers by keyboard) and Player Two (control of lights, stage movement, refractions). All recorded in real time to the music!
