A poetic meditation on masculinity by Madrid-based director Federico Canal Santiangeli. Juxtaposing colloquial language with a mix of provocative visuals, “ABSOLUCIÓN” challenges toxic and unrealistic identity models while calling for more diverse and inclusive conceptions that can contribute more productively to society:

“What Dwells In Me” by Del & Larissa Zaidan (Mature)

Three peripheral artists from São Paulo, Brazil share their daily routine during social isolation in this dynamic documentary short by Del and Larissa Zaidan. “What Dwells In Me” is an effort to understand the creative process and what feelings and questions are emerging in this particular moment:

Lay, 29 years old, for example, is a rapper from Osasco, a municipality in São Paulo. She lives with her grandmother in a house and says that she has come to understand much more the connection and similarities that she has with her mother and grandmother in this period of extreme coexistence. Or Pegge, as he says ‘Boy raised without a father’ and a 22-year-old black painter who recently started painting and already has a super strong job. He portrays his youth and the universe he surrounds and admires. Mackaylla is a drag queen from Brasília who came to São Paulo a few years ago trying to live in art. Mackaylla is a character created by Vinicius, a gay man who divides with all individuals or questions about two people and remains isolated at home without being able to leave. They are new and independent talents trying to find their spaces.”

Cubicolor – “Rituals”

A nice blend of hypnotic visuals in this video for Cubicolor by UK-based filmmaker and designer Cal Bain. Starring Robert Sheehan, “Rituals” captures the warped and atmospheric intensity of the track through Sheehan’s expressive micro-movements. As Bain explains:

“We all have rituals. From habitual daily activities to practices in meditation and worship. Movements based on fortune and luck, or even just superstition. Do they hinder or help our daily needs? Does it matter? Is the act of doing them reward enough…”
