Standing On The Corner – “SahBabii /\ Now, Nation End, 38:15”

On September 11th, 2016, Standing On The Corner released a 35-minute long mix of Puerto Rican music, soul samples and pitched vocals. The experimental project, helmed by Crown Heights’ Shamel Cee Mystery, aimed to create a sound as unique and diverse as the city that spawned them and the New York ensemble returned with their second full-length release, Red Burns, exactly one year later.

Now “Sahbabii /\ Now, Nation End, 38:15,” a track off that 2017 mixtape, has finally received a visual treatment! Animated and directed by Mortis Studio, and made in collaboration with WeTransfer, the surreal clip explores the albums personal reflections on growing up black/brown in America as well as underlying themes of impending doom and the end of the world.

Branded: #DoYou by Piotrek Matejkowski

A refreshing approach to PUMA’s #DoYou campaign by director Piotrek Matejkowski (previously featured here). Set to Mary Komasa and The Dumplings’ “Jestem Kobieta” (I’m a Woman) — a track recorded specifically for the spot — the video explores themes of empowerment and living life on your own terms, only through visuals that feel far more relatable than the over-the-top scenes one typically sees. As Mateikowski explained to us, while #DoYou is “a manifesto for all women” he and his team were ultimately trying to tell a “simple story in a unique way.”

Son Lux – “The Fool You Need (Enough of Me)”

Son Lux were so inspired by Belgian director and artist Jean-Paul Frenay’s video for “The Fool You Need” (previously featured here) they actually reworked their track based on Frenay’s visuals. As Son Lux explains:

“Revisiting and reincarnating our own songs has been part of the Son Lux project from its inception. ‘The Fool You Need (Enough of Me)’ is the latest in that tradition. For the first time, we’ve turned to the video for the original version of the song for inspiration.”

Check out the re-released video above as well as the version with the original track below!
