A timely piece from Mozilla — a global community working to ensure the Internet is kept open and accessible to all. Created in collaboration with Kiddo Films by director Stuart Langfield and producer Marco Patricio, “Misinfo Nation” tackles the ever-pressing issue of fake news and what we need to do to fight it. As they state:
“In today’s media climate, it’s becoming harder and harder to tell what’s real and what isn’t. We’re bombarded daily with (mis)information that’s trying to change the way we think about our government, our leaders, and even each other. But while it may seem like we’re living in a world divided, the truth is out there. And we have the ability to vote and shape our world, based upon it.”

Another perfectly simple, paint-filled video for Knightstown from UK-based filmmaker Helen Plumb (previously featured here). Cinematography by Ben Cox.
Powerful visuals by British director and photographer Jesse Heath for Hucci and Jaya’s track “Fountain.” Set in the not-so-distant future, the video captures the process of stripping away personal identity and individuality through the disturbing treatment of a random group of men in a nameless place by an unknown authority. As Heath explains further:
“Essentially, the short film subtly considers the way in which societies tend to respond to people who have been identified as unlawful, illegitimate, disposable or ‘other’… We abandon any attempts of recognition, rehabilitation, and integration. Over and over we just round up, contain or detain, and cut loose. Fountain is an atmospheric meditation on these practices, prompted by a feeling more than a statement.”

A strangely captivating hand-drawn animation by London-based artist Chris Smith. Set to the track “Leather” from Sauna Youth’s 2015 album Distractions, Smith delves into a series of random sequences loosely revolving around the actions/consequences of a disruptive pair of scissors.
A delightfully quirky video for Corn on My Dinner Plate by Chicago-based director Sam Aidan Johnson. Based on the anxieties of a hard breakup, “Swing Dreams” follows a pathetically dramatic boyfriend navigating a surreal path to closure.
