Toronto-based studio Tendril’s wonderful animated short opens episode 5 of American Gods, the new television series based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name.

Love this short by Los Angeles-based artist Jamie Wolfe, who is currently working on her MFA in experimental animation at CalArts.

A squiggly chalk drawing comes to life with delightfully terrifying results in the video for Scaramanga Silk’s track “Life In The Faslow Lane.” As director Andy Sowerby explains: “I wanted the video to feel funny, random and yet slightly disturbing.” The purposefully glitchy aesthetic of Mr Scribble (as he came to be known on set) was created using a mix of both in camera and post production effects. A woman traverses a landscape of memories made out of old postcards and worn out images in this lovely video for Nadia Schilling’s track “Kite” by Portuguese artist João Pombeiro.

Redmond Brick aka HOON created both the visuals and the music in this experimental short animation. What you’re seeing is a 3D model with toon shaders, giving it the appearance of 2D, with a variety of effects over top. Can’t say we’ve seen anything quite like this.
