Dominic Flannigan and Peter Marsden of record label LuckyMe have teamed up with Apple Music for a series of experimental shorts featuring some of the label’s artists. The first of what will be five films, “O.N.O” pays homage to the 90s hip hop videos that have inspired the current work of Montréal-based producer/DJ Lunice. However, rather than replicate the visuals exactly, the references offered here remain purposefully abstract, re-imagined in a minimalist, theatrical way as memories — hazy and partial.

London-based animator Steve Warne’s incredible stop-motion short about a man haunted by his past as an 80s TV show mascot.
A spooky video for Kayak’s track “Attack Mode” by filmmaker Rory Bentley (previously featured here). Shot in the Scottish Highlands with cinematographer Adam Singodia and pagan masks by David Evan MacKay, Bentley offers up something a bit different as a way of reflecting what the hip hop duo (who are just about to drop their first EP) bring to the UK scene. As he further shared with us:
“Kayak hail from Glasgow and so we went to remotest Scotland to shoot the video — both our artist and DoP Adam Singodia persevered stoically with the unpredictable, sometimes awful, weather conditions – not to mention coping with the crazy sh*t I was making them do”
Check out the striking results above as well as some photos from the shoot below!

Trippy collage animation by João Pombeiro for Nightmares On Wax’s track “Back To Nature.” Paralleling the eclectic assemblage of rhythms inspired by visits to the Yucatan jungle, ceremonial practices of Peyote and the wisdom of shaman Kuauthli Vasquez, Pombeiro’s accompanying visuals emerge from repurposed magazine clippings, postcards and vintage film.
