“Pollyanna” by Roman Gubin

A young girl expresses her internal struggle through dance in this personal short by Toronto-based filmmaker Roman Gubin. Dedicated to his mother, who has been living with MS for the past 10 years, Gubin explores the hidden emotions and spirit of defiance experienced by those in similar situations:

“Our inner world is complex and we are subject to many emotions: sadness, happiness, excitement, fear, anger. Anger and fear can be destructive as much as they can be creative. I know that my mother is angry at her condition, and I know a lot of people with disabilities experience anger on a regular basis. But anger does not define them. Their disability does not define them.”
