Short Film of the Day: “The Time Agent” by Jude Chun

So many great ideas packed into this subtle sci-fi short by South Korean director Jude Chun. “The Time Agent” follows a man attempting to alter a single event in his past without disrupting the future courses of anything (or anyone) else. Like a Murakami novel — lovely attention paid to routine, meal prep and quiet moments of solitude.

Bonobo – “Break Apart” feat. Rhye

A compelling video for Bonobo’s track with Rhye by Los Angeles-based director Spencer Creigh. “Break Apart” features three young couples alone in a hotel room for 24 hours without the use of phones, television or other electronic distractions. Through the observation of each couple’s quiet moments together, the viewer is forced to reflect on their own voyeuristic participation in videos like these that are only able to capture authentic moments of intimacy through a clear invasion of privacy.

Artist Andrew Thomas Huang teams up with motion capture company Noitom, choreographer Nina McNeely and fashion designer Ashley Eva Brock for a series of experimental loops. Originally projected separately in a gallery exhibition, check out all 9 vignettes from Huang’s self-described “sci-fi Fraggle Rock-inspired trash opera” above! You can also check out Huang and McNeely’s other recent work for Björk’s “The Gate” here, if you haven’t already.

Toydrum – “Void & Form” feat. Joel Wells

Trippy video by director Alice Lowe (Prevenge) for the Trentemøller remix of Toydrum’s track with Joel Wells. Shot on an 8 x 4 foot set using practical effects, “Void & Form” pays homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey with Kate Dickie (aka Lysa Arryn from Game of Thrones) starring as a distressed astronaut trapped in a kaleidoscopic nightmare.
